The Innovation Expo in Rapid City is a conference focusing on connecting entrepreneurs, innovators, angel investors, venture capitalists, and the many others who are involved in developing startup companies. The event will consist of speakers, breakout sessions, and networking focusing on the entrepreneurial community.

I have spent much of my life believing I can "Create the Community You Want To Live In." Co-Founder of Emerging Prairie, Dinnerties.com, 1 Million Cups Fargo, and Students Today Leaders Forever. I teach as an Adjunct Professor at Concordia College. Greg's current activities include co-organizing Startup Weekend Fargo and curating TEDxFargo. I love Settlers of Catan, coffee, hosting dinner parties and ND Class "B" state champs.

Stan is a seasoned executive with broad international experience having worked for DuPont for 34 years. His last full time position was CEO for a +$1B company with full global operations. Stan has led a number of acquisitions, joint venture formations and divestitures for both large and small companies. He has served as a Board Member for US, European and Asian based companies. He served on a Technology Advisory Board for an x-IBM business and holds a US patent.

Stan has a degree in Commerce and Engineering from Drexel University along with a number of industrial certifications (ie -Six Sigma). He is an active member of the Black Hills Regional Angel Fund. Stan and his wife live in the Raleigh North Carolina.

Amy Colgan is the Creative Director/Co-founder at Lemonly, a visual storytelling design studio based in Sioux Falls, SD. At Lemonly, Amy works with clients across industries including Netflix, The 9/11 Memorial & Museum, Major League Baseball, Marriott, Johnson & Johnson, and more. In 2014, she received the SD CEO Women in Business 'Enterprising Young Entrepreneur Award'.

Born and raised in South Dakota, Amy grew up in the Black Hills and attended South Dakota State University where she majored in Graphic Design and Advertising. When not obsessing over pixels, she can usually be found enjoying events around Sioux Falls, stretching her culinary skills, or planning her next adventure.

David is a serial entrepreneur who started his first company in 2008. He is a graduate of 4 technology accelerator programs and has been a part of numerous tech startup ecosystems. Originally from Minneapolis, David chose to move his most recent startup, Camp Native, to Spearfish. Since moving to Spearfish, Camp Native is growing quickly and now has 12 employees, he's launched an agency focused on supporting startups called Rev7.co, and he's helped launch another tech startup called UnderwritePro. It's his mission to be an integral part of building a vibrant tech startup ecosystem in the Black Hills Region.

Ryan McFarland is an entrepreneur with a passion for mountain biking and motorsports. Ryan grew up with a grandfather who was a race car engineer and a father who owned a motorcycle dealership. This early exposure to cars, motorcycles, and racing influenced Ryan to ride dirt bikes and mountain bikes, as well as race go-karts and stock cars. His mechanical inclination and his competitive spirit led him to invent the U.S. Patented Thudbuster suspension seatpost for bicycles and a U.S. Patented suspension system for wheelchairs.

His passion for spending time with his family, riding on two wheels, and teaching other children how to ride using the Strider Bike was the genesis for what is now known as Strider Sports International, Inc., formed January 9, 2007, in Rapid City, South Dakota, of which Ryan McFarland is still the Founder, President, CEO, and Chief Enthusiast.

Ericka Heiser, MBA, CVA attended the University of South Dakota, earning a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration in 1999. In 2005, she graduated with a Masters of Business Administration also from the University of South Dakota. She joined the firm in July of 2006 after more than ten years in the financial services industry. Heiser manages the Valuation Department where she performs valuation analysis for various industries and for various purposes including estate, gift, marital dissolution, and sales negotiations. In addition, she prepares damages calculations and develops projections for start-up businesses. Heiser is a member of the National Association of Certified Valuation Analysts (NACVA) and the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants (AICPA).

Jonathan Kennedy is an attorney at McKee, Voorhees & Sease, PLC. His practice is focused on intellectual property law, including, patents, trademarks, copyrights, trade secrets. Jonathan's patent practice focuses on inventions related to chemistry, nanotechnology, and materials science. This includes preparation and prosecution of patent applications in the energy, medical, and cleaning industries. Representative clients that Jonathan has worked for include Fortune 500 companies, Universities, start-ups, and individual inventors. Jonathan also actively litigates intellectual property lawsuits with experience in State and Federal courts and at the district court and appellate court level. He also actively represents clients in filing and prosecuting trademark applications before the USPTO and the Patent Trial and Appeal Board. He is a member of the Iowa State Bar Association IP Section Council and is the Secretary and Programming Co-chair for the American Chemical Society's Division of Chemistry and the Law. He has a Bachelor's degree in Chemistry and a Master of Arts in Bioethics from Trinity International University and a Juris Doctorate from Drake University Law School. Kyle's technical background focuses on mechanical engineering. During his academic career, he acquired expertise in the areas of optics, optical transmission spectroscopy, polymeric materials, stress analysis, composites and electro-mechanics. Additionally, he had the opportunity to work on a U.S. Department of Defense grant to develop an optical fiber sensor system to monitor in-situ the stresses experienced by high stress components within an aircraft during flight. The system also allowed for in-situ monitoring of the overall structural health of these parts during routine maintenance. Initial research efforts culminated in the issuance of a US patent covering a particular embodiment of this invention.

Cory graduated, summa cum laude, from Drake University School of Law in 2011 where he received recognition from the faculty and Supreme Court of Iowa for numerous outstanding achievements for both his general performance and his dedication to studies in intellectual property. After graduating from Drake, Cory served as Federal Law Clerk to the Honorable John A. Jarvey in the Southern District of Iowa where he gained invaluable experience related to the judicial management and resolution of intellectual property cases. Cory continued his career at a boutique intellectual property firm in Des Moines, IA before moving to Dallas, TX to work for a large intellectual property litigation firm. Cory's experience in both of these settings exposed him to a wide variety of intellectual property litigation including mechanical, software, and biotech patent litigation, trademark and trade dress defense, and the Inter Partes Review process. Cory's practice focuses predominantly on intellectual property litigation and transactional work. He is admitted in Iowa and is registered to practice in numerous Federal District Courts throughout the United States and the Eighth Circuit and Federal Circuit Court of Appeals.

Mr. Wright's perspective on intellectual property in innovation and entrepreneurship comes from work in university tech transfer and his own start-up. With stints at the University of Kansas's Office of Intellectual Property and Technology Transfer; and in industry at The Siouxland Initiative, Mr. Wright understands the potential impact intellectual property can have in the commercialization process in all types of organizations.

Mr. Wright served for five years on the Association of University Technology Managers (AUTM) Central Region Planning Committee. Mr. Wright has moderated or presented at conferences on topics such as; intellectual property strategies for start-ups; commercialization from the entrepreneur's perspective; and the relationship between technology transfer and economic development.
